At KP, we work for the betterment of waste pickers and their families across livelihoods, capacity building, education, and health. Your generous contribution helps strengthen the first line of defense against climate change—our waste pickers.
You can choose to donate to one of our three dedicated funds:
General Fund – A flexible, high-impact fund that allows us to respond to the most urgent needs of waste pickers and their families. Whether it’s securing emergency medical care, advocating for policy changes, funding innovative livelihood programs, providing access to government policies and equipment, or enumerating itinerant waste pickers, your donation ensures that help reaches where it’s needed most—when it’s needed most.
Recycling Fund – Your backing can help boost the monthly income of waste pickers by helping us build temporary storage spaces (Pinjras) across the city. These spaces increase waste pickers’ ability to store and process recyclables by threefold. Costing around ₹70,000/- (including construction, painting, and transport) a Pinjra provides 3 waste pickers continued economic benefit for more than 10 years. Your donation to this fund will not only strengthens local recycling systems, it also keeps more waste out of landfills and in the circular economy.
Education Fund – Break the cycle of poverty by ensuring children of waste pickers can access quality education. Your donation provides scholarships, school supplies, and exam guides, helping students stay in school and succeed. A donation of just ₹7,000/- can help a waste picker’s child to extend their schooling by one more year. By supporting a child’s education, you’re investing in their future and opening doors to opportunities beyond waste picking—ensuring that waste picking becomes an occupation by choice, not by caste.
